Trees release oxygen and absorb a number of toxic gasses from the air including carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide. One large tree can provide oxygen for 4-5 people for an entire day! Improving the quality of our air is a great benefit but rarely the reason for planting trees. Homeowners plant trees for a number of reasons including aesthetics, shade, privacy or property value.
Tree Placement
Franklin arborists have planted and cared for a wide variety of trees from the common yellow poplar to the most exotic trees. There are several things to consider when selecting a tree. The purpose of the tree usually determines the best tree types and where it should be planted. When the goal is to create more shade, we usually recommend dense trees planted on the west or south side of the home. To catch the runoff from the rain, we recommend planting the trees in the lower dry areas. There are several options to consider for all tree purposes from future tree houses, swings or hammocks.

One thing to consider when choosing a tree is how it will be effected by the soil and surrounding plants and trees. Every tree is unique in its preferred environment. Some trees will flourish when paired with companion plants. A companion plant can protect the tree from insects and improve the soil by increasing the nutrients that your trees need. Ongoing tree care is required for some tree types. We always provide clear and easy instructions for ongoing tree care and maintenance for trees that we plant. This will give you the understanding and option to use our tree care service or take care of the tree maintenance yourself.
